This is a nice scoreboard, though I admit that I gambled when purchasing. I knew that I didn't want a dry-erase board because they frequently don't erase cleanly, but I didn't know anything about this scoreboard at all. For one, I wasn't sure about the specs on it, which I found is consistent with other large scoreboards--23.5" x 15.5". I was also really nervous about ordering it because I know that some chalkboards aren't easy to write on because they've got a special coating that essentially renders them useless, but I'm definitely satisfied with this one. This writes and erases nicely. It's probably obvious due to price, but this isn't slate--it's particle board or something like it that's painted to serve as a chalkboard. The chalk holder is a nice touch. One disappointment was that there aren't holes drilled at the bottom for mounting, because the board would curve away from the wall slightly at the bottom if only hung from the top.
